Biography

Akindele Olufunke Ayotunde (popularly known as Funke Akindele, born August 24, 1976 in Ikorodu, Lagos State, Nigeria) is a Nigerian actress. In 2009 she won the African Movie Academy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role.

She attended Academic and Actors School while She started Her Basic Primary Education at the Grace Children School, Gbagada, Lagos state. Had her Secondary Education in Lagos State Model College, Igbo Kuta, Ikorodu and furthered her education first at the Ogun State Polytechnic Ojere, Abeokuta now Moshood Abiola Polytechnic where she studied Mass Communication,(OND) and a Graduate of Law from the University of Lagos, Akoka, Yaba. The Second child of the Family of six, growing up in Folagoro, Lagos State. She started Acting in 1997, had her first major acting role as a teenager "Bisi", undergoing sex education in a television series called "I need to know" which was sponsored by United Nations. Funke Akindele is an Actress and a Movie Producer. She is also Single.
